If your budget for updating your deck is lower, then making small changes with big impact can make a huge difference! Replacing standard wooden balusters with modern pieces made of metal, or a thinner piece of wood can change the entire feel of your deck. Something in a black can play well off the colour of the wood.
If your deck is already at the size you like, consider adding to it with some ambiance. A gas-powered fire table gives just as much in coziness as it does the heat it spreads. Whether you place it in the middle of your deck surrounded by your built-in benches, or in among your favourite Adirondacks, this can make your deck feel brand new.
Want to build a deck that will last for years? Consider a composite deck. Composite materials a low maintenance when compared to natural wood, and will last much longer. While the up front cost will likely be more than natural wood, the over time cost in maintenance can be worth it.
