There are a number of great reasons to take on renovations during the winter. A while back we talked about some of those, like scheduling, pricing, and availability. If you’ve taken some of those things to heart, and are considering getting some renovation work done this winter, here are some ideas of what to focus on.
Garage: So, we know that winter in The Maritimes is cold, but that doesn’t mean that the garage is off-limits. Updating your storage spaces in your garage, or using a cold-weather-approved material to recoat your garage floor are both options to consider. Also, consider replacing the actual garage door, or updating the lighting in your garage!
Closets: The changing of the seasons in Atlantic Canada also means the changing of the wardrobe. Moving spring and summer clothing into storage, and winter into the closets gives you an opportunity to update that storage space. Updating lighting, installing organizers, and even a fresh coat of paint can all go a long way towards eliminating clutter and helping your home feel more comfortable.
Home Office: If you’ve been working from home, it may have been a quick decision, not giving you the opportunity to truly set up your space. If that’s the case for you, now is a great time to transform a spare room, or even upgrade the space you’re occupying now, into a proper work from home space. Foldable desks wheeled chairs, and plenty of storage are all great ideas to help repurpose and upgrade the space you’re in for work.
If you’re looking for an easy upgrade to take care of this winter, you can’t go wrong with small jobs, like painting, or upgrading your home’s energy efficiency. While both of these things can be large-scale jobs, doing small bits one at a time can help you get things done, and not feel overwhelmed by the work.
