Winter gets a bad rap. Snowy roads, cold weather, and black ice all make the wintertime a bit of a bummer. We’re here to tell you that despite all that, this might be the best time of year to get some work done on your home! Consider it: After the holidays, you’re not entertaining as much, so the house is quiet; contractors are usually less busy this time of year, so they’ll be available for you, and a host of other reasons can make this time of year very appealing to get work done. We’ve gathered up our favourite reasons for you.
Scheduling: As mentioned above, a lot of contractors just aren’t busy this time of year. This is your biggest “in”. You need work done, and they want to do work. While they won’t be able to do anything outdoors, that basement you wanted to be refinished will be all systems go during the winter months!
Permits: Since contractors are usually the ones requesting building permits, when they’re not busy, the permit office isn’t busy. Take advantage of this benefit by booking your reno’s in the wintertime.
Price Hikes: The warmer weather can cause price hikes, just ask any gas station. With the slow season comes the potential for off-season pricing. Many suppliers may be offloading last year’s models to make way for the 2020 trends, which can sometimes mean savings for you!
Spring Sales: Wintertime isn’t a great time to sell your home, but the springtime is. So if you’re thinking about selling your home, get your reno’s done now, to be ready for the spring rush of home buyers.
